ABOUT DR. DIANE NEVETTE GREER WALKER
Dr. Diane Nevette Greer Walker — Leaving A Legacy of Hope
Born July 23, 1967, in Winona, Mississippi and having departed this life January 16, 2005, Diane was the daughter of Walter Greer, Sr., who preceded his daughter in death, and Annie B. Greer. Diane professed her love for Christ at an early age.
Residing in Jackson, Mississippi, Diane spent her childhood years with her loving family. She was educated at Provine High School and later earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from Tougaloo College in 1989. Diane united in Holy Matrimony with Joseph W. Walker, III on April 23, 1993.
Shortly after their union, she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Meharry Medical College in 1994. She worked for the Department of Public Health, providing dental care to patients at both the Lentz and the Woodbine Public Health Centers in Nashville, Tennessee. She also worked part-time as a clinical instructor in Pediatric Dentistry at Meharry. As a businesswoman, she was vice-president of Exodus Productions, Inc., and as a soror, she was a member of Delta Sigma theta Sorority, Inc.
Lady Di, as she was fondly called, was committed to each Mt. Zion Vision of the House, broadening the "Word-centered" ministry locally and internationally. She directed the Women’s Ministry, taught Sunday School, enjoyed her love for God and shared the mission of His church with whoever listened. One of her greatest desires was to see women reach their fullest potential through the Word. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, she actively worked in the ministry, relying on her faith to sustain her. Lady Di was recognized internationally as one of American’s most outstanding Christian women when she traveled to Ghana, West Africa to spread the Gospel at the Christian Women’s Conference. Her Christian leadership and personal warmth in Ghana was unparalleled.
Diane exemplified tremendous strength and unwavering faith. Her quiet yet determined spirit inspired millions around the world. She was a scholar, philanthropist, community leader and virtuous woman. Her contagious spirit continues to inspire others to pursue their life visions. Helping young students fulfill their dreams of graduating from a college or university with a degree in their chosen fields of interest was a commitment of hers that continues even today, through the Dr. Diane Greer Walker Memorial Scholarship Fund.
With your support, the Diane Greer Walker Memorial Scholarship Fund will be able to provide more scholarships to deserving students year after year. All contributions to this 501c3 non-profit entity are tax deductible and will go directly to help students.
